{"id":485,"date":"2014-09-17T17:48:57","date_gmt":"2014-09-18T00:48:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hd4pc.com\/techblog\/?p=485"},"modified":"2014-09-17T17:52:19","modified_gmt":"2014-09-18T00:52:19","slug":"ibc-2014-announcements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hd4pc.com\/techblog\/2014\/09\/17\/ibc-2014-announcements\/","title":{"rendered":"IBC 2014 Announcements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As always, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackmagicdesign.com\/http:\/\/\" target=\"_blank\">Blackmagic Design<\/a> had a number of new products to announce at IBC.\u00c2\u00a0 But their biggest news to release, was their acquisition of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eyeonline.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Eyeon Software<\/a>, makers of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eyeonline.com\/Fusion7.html\" target=\"_blank\">Fusion 7<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 I have never used Fusion myself, but I have heard of it over the years, usually because it was one of the supported applications of the hardware I was using.\u00c2\u00a0 Based on the description, it appears to be an After Effects competitor, in both the motion graphics and compositing space.\u00c2\u00a0 It will be interesting to see where that partnership goes, but I foresee integration with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackmagicdesign.com\/products\/davinciresolve\" target=\"_blank\">DaVinci Resolve<\/a>, which just had an 11.1 update released at the show.\u00c2\u00a0 The other new product that stands out, is their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackmagicdesign.com\/products\/smartview4k\" target=\"_blank\">Smartview 4K<\/a> full resolution SDI monitor.\u00c2\u00a0 It has built-in LUT color processing support, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackmagicdesign.com\/products\/teranexexpress\" target=\"_blank\">Teranex <\/a>based resolution scaling.\u00c2\u00a0 It will be interesting to see how good the panel in that is when it is released in December.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aja.com\" target=\"_blank\">AJA <\/a>didn&#8217;t announce any new products, but their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aja.com\/en\/products\/cion\" target=\"_blank\">CION<\/a> camera is getting closer to release, which I am looking forward to seeing in action.\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.sony.com\/bbsc\/home.do\" target=\"_blank\">Sony<\/a> had two new cameras worth mentioning.\u00c2\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.sony.com\/bbsc\/ssr\/micro-xdcam\/resource.latest.bbsccms-assets-micro-xdcam-latest-pxwfs7.shtmlhttp:\/\/\" target=\"_blank\">PXW-FS7<\/a> is a 4K XDCam camera with a Super35 sensor, that records 10bit 4:2:2 with various codec options onto XQD cards.\u00c2\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sony.co.uk\/pro\/product\/broadcast-products-camcorders-xdcam\/pxw-x200\/overview\/\" target=\"_blank\">PXW-X200<\/a> is a 3-chip 1\/2&#8243; chip camera with a fixed 17x lens, that shoots XDCamHD to SxS cards in XAVC or MPEG-HD.\u00c2\u00a0 In other camera related news, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usa.canon.com\/cusa\/consumer\/products\/cameras\/slr_cameras\" target=\"_blank\">Canon<\/a> has also announced the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usa.canon.com\/cusa\/consumer\/products\/cameras\/slr_cameras\/eos_7d_mark_ii\" target=\"_blank\">7D MkII<\/a>, which combines the features of the existing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usa.canon.com\/cusa\/consumer\/products\/cameras\/slr_cameras\/eos_7d\" target=\"_blank\">7D<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usa.canon.com\/cusa\/consumer\/products\/cameras\/slr_cameras\/eos_70d\" target=\"_blank\">70D<\/a> products, with better HDMI output options, and 1080p60 recording capability.<\/p>\n<p>On the software front, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.avid.com\/US\/products\/Media-Composer\" target=\"_blank\">Avid Media Composer<\/a> is no longer limited to HD frame sizes.\u00c2\u00a0 The new resolution imdependent version supports <a href=\"http:\/\/www.avidblogs.com\/ibc-2014-native-4k-editing-media-composer-announced\/\" target=\"_blank\">DNxHR<\/a>, the high resolution successor to the DNxHD codec.\u00c2\u00a0 It edits 2K and 4K footage at various aspect ratios, and can even render high quality DPX files.<\/p>\n<p>Adobe announced updates to many apps in their <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/creativecloud\/ibc-2014-whats-coming-next-to-creative-cloud-for-video\/?scid=social31168446\" target=\"_blank\">Creative Cloud<\/a> tool set, the most significant of which are in <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.adobe.com\/davtechtable\/2014\/09\/whats-new-in-the-fall-release-of-premiere-pro-cc-2014-1.html\" target=\"_blank\">Premiere Pro<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 They have added a feathered bezier masking tool into their effects settings, that can automatically track objects that are selected.\u00c2\u00a0 They also have made major improvements to the project manager, and integrated full support for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cineform.com\" target=\"_blank\">Cineform<\/a> files.\u00c2\u00a0 They added AJA RAW file support and claim to have improved the GPU acceleration of debayering and playback of large frame sized RAW camera files from Red, Canon, and CinemaDNG.\u00c2\u00a0 Exciting to me, they are supposed to have better support for HiDPI displays in both After Effects and Premiere, as well as the rest of their applications.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As always, Blackmagic Design had a number of new products to announce at IBC.\u00c2\u00a0 But their biggest news to release, was their acquisition of Eyeon Software, makers of Fusion 7.\u00c2\u00a0 I have never used Fusion myself, but I have heard of it over the years, usually because it was one of the supported applications of [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[8,9],"tags":[49,43,18,46,12,44,15,45,50,38,39],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.hd4pc.com\/techblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/485"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.hd4pc.com\/techblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.hd4pc.com\/techblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.hd4pc.com\/techblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.hd4pc.com\/techblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=485"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"https:\/\/www.hd4pc.com\/techblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/485\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":490,"href":"https:\/\/www.hd4pc.com\/techblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/485\/revisions\/490"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.hd4pc.com\/techblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=485"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.hd4pc.com\/techblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=485"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.hd4pc.com\/techblog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=485"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
