{"id":33,"date":"2008-04-16T23:46:42","date_gmt":"2008-04-17T06:46:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hd4pc.com\/techblog\/2008\/04\/16\/nab-day-3\/"},"modified":"2010-07-29T23:19:54","modified_gmt":"2010-07-30T06:19:54","slug":"nab-day-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hd4pc.com\/techblog\/2008\/04\/16\/nab-day-3\/","title":{"rendered":"NAB Day 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am jumping straight to Day 3, since Day 2 was rather uneventful, although I did attend the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aja.com\" target=\"_blank\">AJA<\/a> party last night, which was quite the experience.<\/p>\n<p>I have come across fewer items of interest since my last post, but there are a couple.\u00c2\u00a0 Canon released two new revisions of their original HDV camera, the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bhphotovideo.com\/c\/product\/556050-REG\/Canon_2080B001AA_XL_H1s_3_CCD_High_Definition.html\/BI\/6727\/KBID\/7302\" target=\"_blank\"> XL-H1<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usa.canon.com\/templatedata\/pressrelease\/20080410_xlh1.html\" target=\"_blank\">XL-H1S<\/a> is just a slightly improved version of the original, while the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bhphotovideo.com\/c\/product\/556048-REG\/Canon_3249B001AA_XL_H1a_3_CCD_High_Definition.html\/BI\/6727\/KBID\/7302\" target=\"_blank\">XL-H1A<\/a> is the lower cost option without the profesional level SDI outputs.<\/p>\n<p>Sony has a few other new releases.\u00c2\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/bssc.sel.sony.com\/BroadcastandBusiness\/minisites\/NAB2008\/NAB2008_srw5100.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">SRW-5100 <\/a>a new lower cost HDCam-SR ingest option.\u00c2\u00a0 This will allow you to read tapes shot with the new <a href=\"http:\/\/bssc.sel.sony.com\/BroadcastandBusiness\/minisites\/NAB2008\/NAB2008_f35.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">F35<\/a>, Sony&#8217;s new Genesis level,\u00c2\u00a0single sensor 35mm replacement camera.\u00c2\u00a0 They also have a\u00c2\u00a0new\u00c2\u00a042&#8243;\u00c2\u00a0addition to their Trimaster series, the <a href=\"http:\/\/bssc.sel.sony.com\/BroadcastandBusiness\/minisites\/NAB2008\/NAB2008_bvml420.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">BVM-L420<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 Also on display was an SxS recording option for the new <a href=\"http:\/\/bssc.sel.sony.com\/BroadcastandBusiness\/minisites\/NAB2008\/NAB2008_pdw700.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">PDW-700<\/a>, allowing you to store 50Mbs MPEG2-422 to solid state.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.convergent-design.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Convergent Design<\/a> showed their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bhphotovideo.com\/c\/product\/572882-REG\/Convergent_Design_FLASH_XDR_Flash_XDR_Portable_HD.html\/BI\/6727\/KBID\/7302\" target=\"_blank\">XBR<\/a>, an\u00c2\u00a0SDI recording device that stores MPEG2 on CompactFlash cards.\u00c2\u00a0 It is much larger than I anticipated, but a smaller model should be soon to follow.<\/p>\n<p>One last NAB installment to come after tomorrow, when I hope to get a chance to explore the Panasonic and\u00c2\u00a0JVC booths, among other in the Central Hall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am jumping straight to Day 3, since Day 2 was rather uneventful, although I did attend the AJA party last night, which was quite the experience.
